Linux Mint Elyssa Beta

While many distros just take ubuntu and change a few things to create a new derivative distro, Linux Mint continues to bring some great innovative features with Elyssa. Some of them are just small incremental improvements which just make your life that little bit easier; others are much more significant. A few items that caught my attention:

  • Right click uninstall. Why didn’t anyone else think of that before?
  • Integration with GetDeb. Sweet!
  • Gnome Do is now installed by default, which I something I do after getting Ubuntu setup. This will definitely make the Linux desktop more appealing.
  • mintBackup. A handy tool to backup your home directory into a single file. Double clicking this file restores the contents.
